Alongside theatre-making and performing, Lexi has also been working as an independent theatre producer since 2017. As a producer, Lexi Clare is passionate about contributing to the theatrical landscape in a way that expands upon the dominant image of gender and sexuality in theatre and champions the voices of emerging artists.

 

In 2017, she launched Maiden Speech, a dynamic and exciting theatre festival that provides a much-needed platform to showcase the boldest new work from a new generation of theatre-makers.
In November 2019, Maiden Speech concluded its third and most ambitious season yet at the Tristan Bates Theatre in Covent Garden. The festival supported more than l00 early-career artists across its three year tenure, and provided a significant launchpad for new work.

 

Previous productions that debuted at Maiden Speech include Purple Snowflakes And Titty Wanks, which transferred to the Abbey Theatre (2021) and the Royal Court Theatre (2022): Rachel Causer's When It Happens, which was nominated for an Off West End Award during its Camden Fringe run in 2019; and Ashleigh Laurence's Tumours, which transferred to Soho Theatre following a successful run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2019.

In 2022, Lexi produced GROOVE, a
co-production between Outbox and Shoreditch Town Hall that ran at Oxford House in London before touring to Contact in Manchester. Featuring a cast of intergenerational queer artists, GROOVE is a new performance exploring the dance floor as a place of protest, identity, belonging and desire. GROOVE was nominated for three Off-West End awards, including a nomination for Access.

Additional producing credits include two Arts Council England funded R&D's: Hannah May Jessop's Clara (2023) and Louise Breckon-Richards' Trace (2019), both directed by Alice Fitzgerald. In 2020, riotous gig theatre show Game Face became Lexi's first international production, premiering at Q Theatre in New Zealand after sold out London previews.
 

As Assistant Producer, Lexi has worked with Antic Productions on the UK premiere ofCollective Rage: A Play In 5 Betties (Southwark Playhouse, 2018), an all-female queer comedy nominated for six Off-West End awards, and Carmina Victoriana (Wilton's Music Hall, 2019). In Aotearoa, she was Assistant Producer on Indigo Paul's Paradise Island (Basement Theatre, 2021).
