Reviews for MUCH ADO ABOUT HERO

"A jubilant and entertaining show with a solid feminist message at its core. The writing is incisive, funny and confident. The songs heartfelt and sassy. It’s a tour de force performance and an intriguing exploration of a Shakespearean character often overlooked."

Annie Power, London Pub Theatres

"Riding the crest of the wave of her intellect, humour and theatrical genius, you are thrilled to be in at the start of what could – surely – be a very wonderful career indeed. This was a memorable debut and I count myself very fortunate to have been present at it.  I shall watch out – with great interest – for more work coming from the inestimable talents of Ms Clare and Co." Reviews for GAME FACE

"For a show that delivers a lot of harsh truths, it's a lot of fun."

Ethan Sills, NZ Herald

"A funny and thorough look at the unrealistic expectations that plague us, driven by money-making companies and the male gaze."

Louise Penn, Loureviews

"Both fresh and relatable, it presents its audiences with important topics of discussion as well as the encouragement to carry on those conversations in ones wider circles."

Sarah Kidd, The 13th Floor

"The relatability of the piece is so powerful and so painful that it is almost too hard to stomach. And yet, Lexi Clare, Lucy Park and Katie Paterson, in their performances, create an atmosphere of understanding and comfort. This is not a show I would pass up on seeing a second, third or even fourth time."

WRITING

Past writing projects include gig-theatre show Game Face (UK, 2019; New Zealand, 2020) and one-act musical Much Ado About Hero (UK, 2017 & 2018).

Much Ado About Hero is a Shakespearean cabaret, a literary rebellion that repositions Hero as the 'hero' of her own story. Written by Lexi Clare, with music and lyrics by Amy Le Rossignol and Lexi Clare, Much Ado About Hero was first performed at the Maiden Speech festival in 2017. This one-act musical is currently undergoing further development.

Game Face is a riotous gig theatre show about the absurdity of our beauty myths, co-created by Lexi Clare, Lucy Park and Katie Paterson. After sold-out London previews at the Seven Dials Playhouse in November 2019, the show premiered at Q Theatre in New Zealand as part of Auckland Fringe in February 2020.

Game Face was originally scheduled to run at Camden People's Theatre in May 2020 and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe as part of the Assembly line up in August 2020. The team are currently exploring further development opportunities for the piece.
